Waterfront di Levante
When steel meets vision: Genoa’s new face, designed by Renzo Piano and developed by CDS Holding
Genoa is reinventing itself, and it is doing so by looking toward the sea. The Waterfront di Levante is not just a construction site: it is a dream taking shape, a project designed by master architect Renzo Piano and developed by CDS Holding and Orion Capital that is rewriting the city’s skyline. Where the former Fiera del Mare once stood, a new district is rising today—vibrant, sustainable, and forward-looking.
The heart of the project
We are talking about over 100,000 square meters of urban transformation. This area seamlessly integrates with the Porto Antico—another of Piano’s masterpieces, which redefined the connection between Genoa and the sea in 1992—and is now set to become a multipurpose hub. It will feature waterfront residences, a 5,000-seat sports arena, offices, spaces dedicated to the blue economy, dining venues, a hotel, and a new urban retail center.
A mosaic of functions designed to give the city back a contemporary and inclusive space to live, work, and gather.
The steel challenge
Such an ambitious project requires solid foundations. This is where Presider (Feralpi Group) comes in—a strategic partner that supplied the project with approximately 10,000 tons of steel: cut and bent rebar, welded wire mesh, lattice girders, straight bars, and pile cages.
It was not just a matter of quantity, but of reliability. During a period of severe global supply chain turbulence, Presider ensured continuity and flexibility, preventing delays and supporting the construction site step by step. A partnership that speaks to the strength of an integrated supply chain and a shared vision.
A sustainable future
The Waterfront is not simply a real estate development, but a laboratory for sustainability. The NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) philosophy, the targeted LEED Gold certification, photovoltaic panels, and innovative water management systems shape a low-impact district in harmony with the environment.
Here, steel plays a silent yet decisive role: the steel supplied by Presider is produced through circular processes, recovering ferrous scrap and utilizing renewable energy sources. Every ton brings with it less CO₂, greater value, and a step forward toward a circular economy.
Genoa rediscovers its sea
Being part of the Waterfront di Levante means much more than just building.
For CDS Holding, Orion Capital, and Presider, it means sharing a vision and bringing to life a project that marks a new way of experiencing the city—designed by master architect Renzo Piano and conceived for future generations.
The new district will be more than just a place to live or visit; it will be a symbol. It is a development that blends iconic architecture, sustainability, and innovation, capable of attracting people, ideas, and energy.
Together, CDS Holding and Presider have made possible a project that gives the sea back to Genoa, transforming it into a new international landmark.
